Who AI recommends for HVAC in Orlando (Nov 2026 test)
Ask ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini for an HVAC company in Orlando and you get three different shortlists. We asked all three the same 20 HVAC questions about Orlando and counted every business each answer named: 88 different businesses in 60 answers, and only 6 named by all three engines.
How we tested
On November 4, 2026, we ran a dedicated test for this guide (no client business involved): we sent each question below to three AI engines through their official APIs, with web search switched on: ChatGPT (OpenAI gpt-4o-mini with web search), Perplexity (sonar) and Gemini (gemini-3.8-flash with Google Search grounding). 20 questions × 3 engines = 60 answers, all 60 completed. We saved every answer word for word, counted every business each answer named with the same extractor our $79 report uses, merged name variants of the same company, and left out things that are not businesses (headings, places, agencies and license types).
Read this as a snapshot, not a ranking. Each question was asked once. AI answers change by date, wording and location, and the apps you use on your phone can answer differently from the APIs. Being named by an AI is not an endorsement from us, and we have not checked the ratings or claims the AIs repeated.

What stood out
- Engines named different shortlists. ChatGPT named 60 different businesses, Perplexity 30 and Gemini 24: 88 in total, only 6 of them named by all three, and 68 named by just one engine.
- No company dominated. The most-named business, Downtown Air and Heat, appeared in 24 of 60 answers (13 Gemini, 9 Perplexity, 2 ChatGPT).
- Some names depended on the engine. Gemini named Bob Heinmiller Air Conditioning in 16 of its 20 answers; ChatGPT never named it and Perplexity named it once. Pro-Tech Air Conditioning & Plumbing Service was named 10 times by ChatGPT and 10 by Gemini, but never by Perplexity.
- ChatGPT cast the widest net. It named 60 different businesses in 20 answers, about twice as many as Perplexity (30).
- Perplexity cited review sites and directories. Its most-cited sources included bbb.org (11 of 20 answers), aireserv.com (10), consumeraffairs.com (9) and cityvetted.com (6). For “who do locals recommend for AC repair in Orlando”, it also cited Reddit.
- Gemini leaned on companies’ own websites. It cited bobheinmiller.com in 14 of its 20 answers, downtown-air.com in 12 and protechac.com, ameritechfl.com and delair.com in 8 each.
- ChatGPT leaned on Google Maps. In all 20 of its answers, ChatGPT linked the businesses it named to Google Maps listings (all 154 of its links).
“Florida requires HVAC contractors to hold an active Certified Air Conditioning Contractor license; verify the contractor’s license and ask whether permits are needed for the job.”
Perplexity, asked “best HVAC technician near me in Orlando” on Nov 4, 2026
“Ask for the total trip/diagnostic cost and a written repair estimate before authorizing work.”
Perplexity, asked “affordable HVAC technician Orlando” on Nov 4, 2026
“Check for weekend/overtime charges: Always confirm upfront whether after-hours or weekend service calls incur an extra dispatch surcharge.”
Gemini, asked “best AC repair company in Orlando” on Nov 4, 2026
How to get your HVAC business named by AI in Orlando
No one can guarantee an AI will recommend you. These steps improve the public signals the answers above relied on.
- Complete your Google Business Profile. ChatGPT linked every business it named to a Google Maps listing. Choose accurate HVAC categories, list AC repair, emergency repair, installation and maintenance as services, and mark 24/7 hours only if they are true.
- Make your own website answer the question. Gemini cited the named companies’ own websites most often. Have clear pages for AC repair, emergency service and installation in Orlando and the areas you serve.
- Be present where Perplexity looked: BBB, ConsumerAffairs and similar directories, with the same business name, address and phone everywhere.
- Publish the facts the AIs told homeowners to check: your Florida HVAC license number, diagnostic, trip and after-hours fees, written estimates, and your service area.
- Earn reviews that mention the job and the area, such as an AC repair in a specific Orlando neighborhood.
- Re-check every month. Ask the questions your customers ask and note who is named. Answers change.
Does AI name your business?
Run the free self-check: we ask Perplexity 3 questions your customers ask and show whether it named you, who it named instead and which sites it cited. The free check needs no email. The full $79 AI Visibility Report asks ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini 20 questions each and adds a Visibility Score and 10 fixes.
We improve the public signals AI tools often use. We do not guarantee that ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Gemini will recommend your business.
