Who AI recommends for HVAC in Dallas (Nov 2026 test)
Ask ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini for an HVAC company in Dallas and you get three different shortlists. We asked all three the same 20 HVAC questions about Dallas and counted every business each answer named: 83 different businesses in 60 answers, and only 5 named by all three engines.
How we tested
On November 4, 2026, we ran a dedicated test for this guide (no client business involved): we sent each question below to three AI engines through their official APIs, with web search switched on: ChatGPT (OpenAI gpt-4o-mini with web search), Perplexity (sonar) and Gemini (gemini-3.8-flash with Google Search grounding). 20 questions × 3 engines = 60 answers, all 60 completed. We saved every answer word for word, counted every business each answer named with the same extractor our $79 report uses, merged name variants of the same company, and left out things that are not businesses (headings, places, agencies and license types).
Read this as a snapshot, not a ranking. Each question was asked once. AI answers change by date, wording and location, and the apps you use on your phone can answer differently from the APIs. Being named by an AI is not an endorsement from us, and we have not checked the ratings or claims the AIs repeated.

What stood out
- Engines named different shortlists. ChatGPT named 60 different businesses, Perplexity 28 and Gemini 24: 83 in total, only 5 of them named by all three, and 59 named by just one engine.
- Two names led. Rescue Air and Plumbing was named in 37 of 60 answers (18 of Gemini’s 20) and Texas AirZone LLC in 31; Texas AirZone was listed first in 12 answers, more than any other business.
- Some names depended on the engine. Airtron Heating & Air Conditioning was named in 11 ChatGPT answers (listed first in 9) and never by Perplexity or Gemini. Dallas Plumbing & Air Conditioning was named in 13 Gemini answers and never by the other two.
- ChatGPT cast the widest net. It named 60 different businesses in 20 answers, more than twice as many as Perplexity (28) or Gemini (24).
- Perplexity cited directories and review sites. Its most-cited sources included aireserv.com (11 of 20 answers), 5starhomeservicepros.com (10), bbb.org (9) and consumeraffairs.com (8).
- Gemini leaned on companies’ own websites and the state licensing site. It cited rescueairtx.com and dallasplumbing.com in 13 of its 20 answers each, and tdlr.texas.gov (Texas licensing) in 8.
- ChatGPT leaned on Google Maps. In all 20 of its answers, ChatGPT linked the businesses it named to Google Maps listings (all 157 of its links).
“Before booking, ask for the diagnostic fee and written estimate, and verify the contractor’s active Texas ACR license with TDLR.”
Perplexity, asked “best AC repair company in Dallas” on Nov 4, 2026
“Availability and response times can vary, so confirm they cover your address and ask about the service-call fee before dispatch.”
Perplexity, asked “emergency HVAC technician Dallas 24 hour” on Nov 4, 2026
“Always ask whether the company charges a diagnostic fee before dispatch and obtain a written estimate before approving major repairs or full compressor replacements.”
Gemini, asked “best HVAC technician in Dallas” on Nov 4, 2026
How to get your HVAC business named by AI in Dallas
No one can guarantee an AI will recommend you. These steps improve the public signals the answers above relied on.
- Complete your Google Business Profile. ChatGPT linked every business it named to a Google Maps listing. Choose accurate HVAC categories, list AC repair, emergency repair, installation and maintenance as services, and mark 24/7 hours only if they are true.
- Make your own website answer the question. Gemini cited the named companies’ own websites most often. Have clear pages for AC repair, emergency service and installation in Dallas and the suburbs you serve.
- Be present where Perplexity looked: BBB, ConsumerAffairs and similar directories, with the same business name, address and phone everywhere.
- Publish the facts the AIs told homeowners to check: your Texas TDLR air-conditioning license number, diagnostic and service-call fees, written estimates, and your service area.
- Earn reviews that mention the job and the area, such as an AC repair in a specific Dallas neighborhood.
- Re-check every month. Ask the questions your customers ask and note who is named. Answers change.
Does AI name your business?
Run the free self-check: we ask Perplexity 3 questions your customers ask and show whether it named you, who it named instead and which sites it cited. The free check needs no email. The full $79 AI Visibility Report asks ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini 20 questions each and adds a Visibility Score and 10 fixes.
We improve the public signals AI tools often use. We do not guarantee that ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Gemini will recommend your business.
