1. What we collect
- Information you enter in our order/intake form: your name, email, business name, business website, city, business type, the offer you're interested in, and any notes.
- Payment and billing details at checkout: Stripe collects these (card, billing address, phone, and tax details). We see the name, email, address, amount, and the last digits of the card. We never see or store full card numbers.
- Emails you send us.
- Public information about the business you ask us to review. This includes its website, Google Business Profile, listings, reviews, and how AI tools describe it. It is information about a business, not private personal data.
- Access you grant for a service (for example, Google Business Profile manager access). We use it only for the work you bought, and you can remove it at any time.
- Technical data: our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser, and pages requested) for security and operations. We use GoatCounter for cookieless, aggregate analytics (pages viewed, referring sites, campaign tags, and checkout-button clicks); it sets no cookies, and we don't use advertising trackers or marketing cookies.
2. How we use it
We use it to reply to questions and requests, send receipts, deliver reports and services, provide support, handle refunds and disputes, and meet tax and legal record-keeping duties. We email you about your order. We send marketing email only if you opt in, and every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. We don't sell or rent your personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
3. Who processes it for us
- Web3Forms relays order-form submissions to our inbox.
- Porkbun hosts the website.
- beehiiv runs our newsletter on its own site (see section 4).
- Stripe handles payments, tax calculation, receipts, and subscription billing (Stripe Privacy).
- Our email provider handles messages sent to our contact address.
- AI providers (OpenAI, Perplexity, Google Gemini) receive the business details needed to test how AI tools describe a business: business name, city, category, and website. We don't send your personal contact details to them.
- Free AI self-check: the self-check sends only the city and service you enter to Perplexity (the business name stays on our server and is used only to spot your business in the answers), runs on Cloudflare with a Cloudflare Turnstile anti-bot check, asks for no contact details, caches Perplexity's answers for 7 days without any personal data or business name, and keeps only a one-way hash of your IP address for 2 days to enforce the 3-checks-per-day limit.
- Tax, legal, and accounting advisers get information when needed, and so do authorities when the law requires it.
4. Newsletter
Our free weekly newsletter is run by beehiiv on its own site (askailocal.beehiiv.com). Our website doesn't collect your email for the newsletter or load any beehiiv scripts; the Subscribe button is a plain link to that page. If you sign up there, beehiiv's privacy policy covers that signup. You can unsubscribe at any time through the link in any issue.
5. How long we keep it
- Order and tax records (ledger, invoices, receipts): about 7 years.
- Intake details and delivered reports: as long as needed to support your order, plus 24 months.
- Unconverted form requests: deleted after 12 months.
- Access you granted for a service: removed or handed back at the end of the engagement.
6. Your choices and rights
To see, correct, or delete your information, or to opt out of marketing, use our contact form. We'll reply within 30 days. We may keep records the law requires (such as tax records). Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights. Residents of California, other US states with privacy laws, and the EU/UK can contact us to use them.
7. Security
We use reputable providers, limit access to the people doing the work, and never store card numbers. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.
8. Children
Our products are for businesses. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13.
9. Changes
We'll update the date above and post changes here. For material changes, we'll also email current customers.
10. Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of Florida, USA.
